Who we are

Cheerleaders (cheerleaders.io) is a portal for cheer athletes. Athletes build profiles, businesses post paid gigs for adult athletes, parents run college recruiting profiles for athletes under 18, and verified college coaches review those profiles. The operator of cheerleaders.io is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the portal:

• Account data. Your email address, name and the role you choose (athlete, parent, business or college coach). You sign in with your email and password, and we send a one time code to your email to confirm your address or reset your password.
• Profile data. What you choose to put on a profile: positions, skills, level, teams, titles, state, graduation year, photos and skills videos. Profiles never show a street address, school address or exact location.
• Business data. Company name and type, the gigs you post (what, where, when, the pay) and your invitations and messages to athletes.
• College coach data. Your college email address and the program you coach, used to verify you.
• Age and consent records. Date of birth to confirm who is 18 or over, and for athletes under 18, the parent's email address and the date and time the parent gave consent.
• Billing data. Your plan, billing period and payment status. Card details are entered on the payment operator's page and never stored on our servers.
• Usage data and cookies. Pages visited, device and browser type, a session cookie to keep you signed in, a security cookie for form protection and analytics cookies.

How we use it

We use your data to run your account, show your profile to the people allowed to see it, match gigs with adult athletes, deliver invitations, applications and contact requests, verify ages and college coaches, process subscriptions, answer support requests and send service emails (confirmation and password reset codes, invitations, receipts, security notices). We do not use your data for anything unrelated to running the portal.

Athletes under 18

• A parent or guardian creates and runs the profile of an athlete under 18, with recorded consent. An athlete under 18 cannot open an account alone.
• A profile under 18 is not public. It does not appear in the public directory, in search engines or at a public address. Only verified college coaches can see it.
• A profile under 18 cannot be invited to or apply for any gig. Businesses and private persons cannot contact an athlete under 18.
• A college coach who wants to talk sends a contact request, and it goes to the parent, never to the athlete.
• Photos are sports photos only, checked before they are shown, and location data is stripped from uploaded images.
• Data of athletes under 18 is never sold and never used for advertising.

Who sees what

Profiles of athletes 18 and over are public in the directory to the extent the athlete chooses; contact details are not shown publicly. Businesses see the applications sent to their own gigs. College coaches see recruiting profiles only after verification. We share personal data with no one else except as described below.

Recipients of data

We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and only to provide their service to us: a hosting provider, a payment operator and an email delivery provider, plus a web analytics provider for usage data. Each is bound by contract to keep the data confidential. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, and we will tell you when we are allowed to.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Cancelling a paid plan does not delete your profile; it returns to the free features at the end of the paid period. You can remove photos and videos and hide a profile yourself at any time, and you can ask us by email to delete a profile or the whole account. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.

Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access inside the portal is limited by role, and access by our staff is limited to what is needed to answer a request you opened or to review a safety report. We review access controls regularly and patch promptly.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Most of it you can edit in your account. For anything else, including full account deletion, email [email protected] and we will act on the request within 30 days. A parent can hide the profile of their child at any time from the account and ask us by email to delete it.

Children's privacy

Children under 13 cannot use the portal. Recruiting profiles for athletes between 13 and 17 are created and controlled by a parent or guardian. If you believe a minor's data was added without a parent's consent, email [email protected] or use the safety page and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date above. For meaningful changes, such as new categories of data or new recipients, we will email account holders before the change takes effect.
