How much a cheer choreographer costs
Most choreographers quote privately, so these are the few who publish a price list. The gap between them is mostly travel: the national company folds the flight and hotel into one number, independents quote the routine and add travel on the invoice.

Compare the total, not the headline
A $2,000 routine plus a flight, two hotel nights and a rental car can land close to half the V!ROC price, or close to all of it if the choreographer flies across the country. Ask every choreographer for one number that includes travel.
Level barely moves the price
Team size and days on site set the bill. A Level 2 routine and a Level 5 routine take a similar number of hours to install, so the published lists price by squad size and school level, not by skill level.
Budget the clean up on day one
A routine taught in June is rarely clean by December. A return visit costs $750 to $2,155, and the rework rate for a routine someone else built is higher than a clean up for your own choreographer's work.

How a choreography job runs
- 1 Skills auditThe choreographer learns what each stunt group and tumbler lands every time. Routines built on unreliable skills lose points and cause falls.
- 2 Music and countsThe music is planned or mixed first, then the routine is written to it in eight counts. Competition music needs proper licensing.
- 3 TeachingThe routine is taught section by section, usually over one to three long sessions.

How much does a cheer choreographer cost?
Independent cheer choreographers publish $1,500 to $2,500 for a full competitive routine, usually with travel billed on top. Varsity's V!ROC lists $5,198 for a performance or game day routine with the choreographer's travel and hotel included. Clean up visits run $750 to $1,000 independently and $1,895 to $2,155 at V!ROC.
How much does cheer choreography cost?
Plan on $1,500 to $5,200 per routine depending on who installs it and whether travel is included, plus music, which no choreographer we checked includes. A custom competition mix adds roughly $800 to $3,600, so a competitive team spends about $3,000 to $4,000 on choreography and music before travel.
How much do cheer choreographers charge for a clean up?
Independent choreographers publish $750 for a half day and $1,000 for a full day for teams they choreographed, and $1,250 to rework a routine somebody else built. V!ROC charges $1,895 for its own customers and $2,155 for teams it did not choreograph.
Does cheer choreography pricing include travel?
Often not. One independent price list marks every routine "Travel Not Included" and another adds a flat $650 for out of state squads. V!ROC is the exception that includes travel and accommodations in the routine price. Ask for the travel figure in writing before you sign.
Is music included in cheer choreography?
No. V!ROC states that music is not included, and independent choreographers price it separately or not at all. Budget the custom mix as its own line and make sure the choreographer has the final track, or at least its counts, before the first session.
What does a cheer choreographer do?
A choreographer builds the routine: the order of stunts, pyramids, tumbling, jumps and dance, the counts for every athlete, the formations and transitions, all timed to the music. Many also clean the routine after it is taught, and V!ROC includes 8-count sheets with performance routines.
How long is a competition cheer routine?
Under 2026-2027 USASF rules an Elite all star routine runs up to 2:30, Prep and Non-Tumbling up to 2:00 and Novice up to 1:30. School and college routines follow the event's own rules, so give the choreographer the rule set and the division before the visit.
How long does choreography take?
Most teams learn a full routine over one to three long sessions. V!ROC dance packages are sold as two days for one routine or three days for two, which is a fair guide for cheer too. Then the team spends weeks cleaning it at practice.
How do I find a cheer choreographer near me?
Post a choreography offer with your state, division, team size and dates, then invite choreographers from the directory or let them apply. Hiring someone who lives within driving distance is the simplest way to cut the travel line from the quote.
What should we send before the visit?
The division and rule set, the number of athletes with positions, the skills each group lands consistently, the music or music plan, and the practice space and times.
