The monthly tuition is the number every gym quotes and the smallest part of the bill for most teams. The rest arrives in pieces between July and March: the uniform, the choreography and music fee, competition entries, the USASF card and the hotel for the out of state event.

The short answer
All star cheer costs about $135 to $450 a month in tuition on the fee sheets US gyms publish for 2026-2027, and about $3,000 to $10,000 for a full June to May season once the uniform, competition fees, choreography, music, USASF membership and travel are added. Level and travel decide where a team lands: a local Novice or Prep team sits near the bottom, an Elite team with flights to national events sits near the top. Ask every gym what its tuition includes before you compare two monthly numbers, because some bundle the uniform and every competition and some bill them separately.
How much is all star cheer a month? Five gyms' own fee sheets
Most gyms put their prices in an information packet you get after an evaluation, which is why families struggle to compare them. A few publish the numbers on their site. These five cover four regions and both pricing models, all inclusive and itemized, so they make a fair benchmark for the conversation with your own gym.

Read the two columns on the right before the one on the left. Cheer UP's $389 looks like the most expensive tuition in the table and is probably the cheapest season in it, because the uniform, shoes, choreography, music and every entry fee are already inside. Power Cheer's Youth team at $197 a month carries $1,960 of fixed first year fees before tax and travel: the $975 fee package, the $40 membership, and $945 of uniform, bow, warm ups, shirt and practice wear. Same sport, same season, and the monthly number tells you almost nothing on its own.
Why the same sport costs $3,000 at one gym and $10,000 at another
Tier
Novice, Prep and Elite are priced like three different products. Las Vegas All Stars charges $275, $350 and $450 a month for them because Elite practices twice as often. Novice teams also run shorter routines and often skip the full uniform package.
Practice days
Tuition tracks practice time more than anything else. Power Cheer steps from $135 for one day a week to $197 for three. Ask how many hours a week the tuition buys, not just the days, and whether tumbling class is extra.
Travel schedule
A team that competes within driving distance pays gas and a few hotel nights. A team with two flight events and a national championship adds $800 to $1,200 per trip for a family, often more than the uniform and the choreography together.
Pricing model
All inclusive gyms fold the uniform, choreography, music and entries into tuition. Itemized gyms quote a lower monthly figure and bill the rest as fees. Neither is cheaper by default. Add up the whole season at each before you compare.
How much does competitive cheer cost for a full season?
Here are two athletes priced line by line from the published numbers above: a Youth Prep athlete at an itemized gym that competes locally, and a Senior Elite athlete with two flight events and a national championship. Both assume a first season, so the uniform is bought new.

The line that matters is the last one. A Prep family quoted "about $200 a month" is really paying about $370 a month once the season is spread over twelve months, and an Elite family quoted $450 is paying close to double that. That gap, not the tuition, is where families feel misled in October. When the payments land across a season
Tuition is flat. Everything else is lumpy, and it bunches in two places: summer, when the team is built, and the competition months.
May to June
Tryouts and placement. Registration or membership fee ($40 at Power Cheer), first tuition payment, USASF athlete membership of $49.
July to August
Uniform order and the first fee installment. Power Cheer bills its $325 package on July 1 and again September 1 and November 1. Fuel starts uniform payments in July. Choreography installs, so the routine fee lands here.
October to March
Competition season. Entry fees, coach fees, hotel nights, spectator admission and flights for any out of state event. Elite families feel most of their season cost in these six months.
April to May
End of season events. Bid teams pay extra fees at gyms like Fuel, where end of season costs sit outside tuition. Then the next season's tryouts start the cycle again.

Families compare the season, so publish the season
The parent reading this page is doing the math in the budget table above. A fee sheet that shows the whole season, tuition plus every fee and when each is due, wins against a lower monthly number with a vague "additional fees apply" underneath. It also cuts the October conversations about fees nobody expected.
All inclusive is a pricing decision, not a discount
Cheer UP bundles the uniform, choreography, music and entries into $389. To price a bundle like that you need your real per athlete cost for each line: the routine divided by the roster, entries times events per team, the uniform order. That only works if every team's roster and competition calendar are accurate by July.
Price by practice hours and tier
Every published fee sheet steps tuition by practice days and tier, not by age. Keep Novice as the entry price for new families. Novice Tiny accepts three athletes and reaches birth year 2023 on the 2026-2027 USASF grid, so it is often the only team a new gym can fill.
Write the fee schedule once, send it once
Families should get one message with the season total, the due dates and what each payment covers. Reminders before each installment date remove most of the late payments that come from forgetting, not from refusing.

Start in Novice or Prep

Ask about half year teams
Some gyms run December to April teams. React Cheer in Washington offers half year Prep, which skips the summer tuition months entirely.
Buy the uniform used
Most gyms reuse a design for two seasons. A used team set sells for $180 to $650 and single shells for $45 to $75 on the used cheer uniforms marketplace.
Use sibling and early pay discounts
Las Vegas All Stars publishes 10 percent off the second child, 15 percent off the third, and 10 percent off for paying in full before August.
Choose the travel schedule, not just the gym
Before you accept a spot, ask for last season's event list. One flight event fewer saves more than a lower tuition rate.
