Two year colleges with national title teams
JUCO Cheer Teams and Junior College Cheer Scholarships
The best JUCO cheer teams are Trinity Valley Community College and Navarro College in Texas. TVCC won both NCA Advanced Coed junior college titles in April 2026, and Navarro won All Girl. Most junior colleges give cheer scholarships, from Butler's in-state tuition and books for every member to Navarro's waived out of state fees, at tuition near $1,100 a semester.
Results, scholarship terms and tryout dates read on each college's own pages, October 2026.

JUCO cheer teams by state
Junior college cheer teams worth a tryout in 2027
Junior college cheer is concentrated in a few states. Texas has the two dynasties and the deepest bench of programs, Kansas has a deep bench of community college spirit squads, and Oklahoma, Iowa, Mississippi and Utah each have a team that wins on a national floor. Each card shows what the school itself publishes. Where a college has not posted 2026-27 terms, we name the cycle the numbers come from.

Junior college national results
Junior college cheerleading national champions in 2026
JUCO teams now have two national stages. The older one is NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach every April, which runs junior college divisions alongside the four year schools. The newer one is the NJCAA's own competitive cheer invitational, a head to head bracket that started in 2025.
The NJCAA recognized competitive coed cheer as an emerging sport in December 2020. The first invitational ran at Salt Lake Community College in 2025, where Trinity Valley beat Dodge City 334.78 to 319.8 in the coed final and Blinn won the women's bracket. The second ran at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City from February 4 to 7, 2026: TVCC beat Connors State 119 to 24 and Navarro beat Blinn 97.5 to 76.75.
More schools are joining. Kilgore College added cheer as an NJCAA sport in July 2026, and Northern Oklahoma College is bringing competitive cheer back at its Tonkawa and Enid campuses for 2026-27.

What JUCO cheer costs
Junior college cheer scholarships go further because tuition is low
A partial cheer award that barely dents a state university bill can cover most of a junior college semester. Twelve credit hours at Trinity Valley cost $1,056 for an in district student, and Navarro's rate tables put a Texas student from outside the district near $1,900. Navarro waives the out of state fee for cheerleaders, which we work out to about $2,065 a semester.
Housing is the larger line. TVCC lists residence hall rooms with a meal plan at $3,232 to $3,916 a semester for 2026-27. Then add the squad's own costs: Cisco charges a $300 squad fee and Salt Lake a $400 spirit pack, while Tyler covers travel, lodging, meals and uniforms.
Per semester at 12 credit hours from each college's posted per hour rates and general fees. Books and housing excluded.

Who can try out and what the rules ask
-
1
A high school diploma or equivalent
NJCAA rules require a standard diploma, a GED or a state approved equivalency test. Navarro lets high school juniors try out as early signees.
-
2
Full time from day one
Twelve credit hours before the first contest. Hutchinson and Snow add a 2.5 GPA to make the squad.
-
3
Two seasons, then move on
NJCAA athletes get two seasons, and the second needs 24 passed hours with a 2.00 GPA.
-
4
A video or a spring date
Most programs pick the team between March and May. Kilgore took videos until June 21, 2026, and Snow takes no videos at all.
Navarro's video rules ask for the highest level of tumbling and stunting an athlete has, and the other programs judge the same two things. If the standing tuck is not there yet, a few months of private tumbling lessons before the video is filmed is the cheapest fix.
Two years, then a four year team
A recruiting profile that follows the athlete from JUCO tryouts to a four year roster
A junior college athlete is recruited twice. First by the JUCO staff, who fill a roster from clinics and videos in the spring of senior year, then by four year coaches, who watch sophomores in Daytona and Orlando and fill their own rosters by May. Families that keep one up to date profile handle both rounds with the same video and the same contact rules.
A recruiting profile on Cheerleaders holds the skills videos, position, level, graduation year and titles, and only coaches with a verified college email can see it. For an athlete under 18, the parent runs the profile and every contact request goes to the parent. The profile is free. Recruiting Pro adds featured placement, up to 10 videos and the list of coaches who viewed the profile for $39 a month or $228 a year, with no contract.

Questions
JUCO cheer questions parents ask
What junior college has the best cheer team?
Trinity Valley Community College and Navarro College, both in Texas, are the strongest. TVCC counts 20 national titles and won both NCA Advanced Coed junior college divisions in April 2026. Navarro counts 20 titles since 2000 and won the 2026 NCA Advanced All Girl junior college title. Blinn, Jones College and Snow College also win national titles.
Do junior colleges give cheer scholarships?
Most do, and some are generous for a two year school. Butler Community College gives every member an in-state books and tuition scholarship. Navarro waives out of state fees for cheerleaders and sets amounts after the team is picked. Tyler covers travel and uniforms. Most schools do not publish dollar amounts, so ask the coach.
Does the NJCAA have cheerleading?
Yes. The NJCAA recognized competitive coed cheer as an emerging sport in December 2020. It held its first cheerleading invitational at Salt Lake Community College in 2025 and a second at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City from February 4 to 7, 2026. It is still called an invitational, not a full NJCAA championship.
How many years can you cheer at a junior college?
Two seasons. NJCAA eligibility rules allow a maximum of two seasons of intercollegiate competition, require full time enrollment of 12 credit hours, and ask for 24 passed hours with a 2.00 GPA before the second season. Many JUCO cheerleaders then transfer to a four year program with two or more years left.
Is Navarro or Trinity Valley better for cheer?
They are close and they trade titles. In April 2026 Trinity Valley won Advanced Large Coed junior college with 94.0458, ahead of Navarro at 91.1791, and also won Small Coed. Navarro won All Girl and Game Day. At the 2026 NJCAA invitational TVCC won coed and Navarro won women's. Pick by squad type and fit.
How much does it cost to cheer at a junior college?
Tuition is low. Twelve credit hours cost about $1,056 a semester in district at Trinity Valley and $1,213 at Navarro, and about $1,900 to $2,000 for other Texas students. TVCC housing with meals adds $3,232 to $3,916 a semester. Squad fees range from none to Cisco's $300 and Salt Lake's $400.
When are JUCO cheer tryouts?
Most junior colleges hold tryouts from March to May for the next fall. Navarro ran five tryout dates from November 2025 to April 2026 at $40 each, Tyler and Snow held theirs on May 9, 2026, and Kilgore took videos until June 21. Blinn runs recruit clinics through the fall before spring tryouts.
Can you cheer at a junior college and then transfer?
Yes, and that is the usual path. A JUCO athlete uses two NJCAA seasons, earns an associate degree or enough credit to transfer, and tries out for a four year team. Four year coaches watch junior college teams at NCA and UCA nationals, so the sophomore season is a recruiting season too.
